# Turn a resource request into a useful lead

Deliver a promised resource, collect only necessary details, and verify the next step.

This example uses a fictional guide offer. Replace it with a real resource that is ready to share, a working link, and wording you can honor.

## Define the promise

For example: “Message GUIDE and we'll send you our starter checklist.” Decide whether you can deliver it directly or genuinely need an email address. Do not add collection friction without a reason.

## Build the path

1. Create a [DM keyword campaign](/using-meet-alto/campaigns/dm-keywords.md), or a [comment-to-DM workflow](/using-meet-alto/campaigns/social-triggers.md) for a specific post.
2. Write a short opening that acknowledges the request.
3. Deliver the approved resource link clearly. If collecting details, explain the purpose and any subscription choice.
4. Add the appropriate [list or integration action](/using-meet-alto/campaigns/lead-capture.md).
5. If using a follow-up sequence, make its first message useful on its own and avoid repeating the original delivery.

## Test as a customer

Trigger the workflow using details you control. Open the resource on a phone, check the collection prompts, and verify the contact in its destination. Try declining the optional next step and ensure the interaction remains respectful.

If AI continues the conversation, confirm it knows which resource the person requested and can answer relevant questions from knowledge. It should not restart an unrelated pitch.

## Measure the right outcome

Separate messages sent, resource clicks, captured details, and the later business outcome. If people receive the message but do not click, inspect the promise, destination, and mobile experience before widening the audience.
